There’s a lot going on since the first book, “Barley,” was published.
Sandy has never seen his family’s ancient home, but sets out to find it — a mole, wandering the wide world.
Jeremiah, itinerant sailor, decides to help, and the adventure begins.
A badger and a mole set out to explore the Old West, and arrive in the middle of a bank robbery.
Street cats take on the drug gangs in Torreón, Mexico.
Amy is kidnapped in Russia, and the cats from the blue house go to her rescue. Sandy and Jeremiah are attacked and left for dead on an empty island.
And when the beautiful Tharyn walks into a knife fight on a deserted dock after midnight, everything changes.

Revenge
“I will not let this rest. Whether we can set it right between us, I will not let them just slip away from this outrage!”
A slow smile arose on Lawrence’s dark face.
“What can we do?” Sir Johnston arose, and paced. “Whatever it is, I want it to be so insulting, so brazen, so completely devastating that the shame of it will follow them for centuries!”
“And immediate? To put an abrupt end to their festivities? To let them know we didn’t even have to think about it very long?”
“Yes, that would be superb!” The badger settled in for another biscuit, trying to imagine what they could do that would settle the score.
Lawrence was warming to the idea, and had the beginnings of a plan.
“What if just the two of us … no armies, no honor guard, no protection at all … dealt them a blow so grievous they would scarce survive? And did it in plain sight? Tomorrow!”
He had Sir Johnston’s full attention.
That evening, two creatures left the badger colony as soon as it was full dark, using a back tunnel so out of use it was almost blocked in several places. No one would suspect them of having gone that way. At the end of the tunnel were several bundles and a small two-wheeled cart that had been carefully oiled for silent travel.
